Chinese simplified characters
You can test here to see if your computer is unicode supported.
Font Setting
If your computer does not display Chinese character properly, and you do not have the installation CD that allows you to install Asian fonts, you may need to install fonts to display Unicode characters as listed below. Also, you can try browsers like Netscape or Mozilla, which give better display of Chinese fonts than Internet Explorer.
- If you are running Windows (2000, XP), you can install the Arial Unicode MS font. See KB 287247 on Microsoft’s web site. The SimHei and SimSun fonts should be OK to display the chinese characters.
- You can also download the Bitstream Cyberbit font and install it in your Fonts folder. It is available from Netscape's FTP site: download Cyberbit.zip or open FTP folder and get Cyberbit.ZIP.
- If you are running Mac OS Classic and have the Language Kit installed, the following chinese fonts are included with the system and should work for the chinese simplified characters: Beijing, Fang Song, Hei, Kai, Song; under Mac OS X (10.2 or later) with Safari, you can also choose STFangSong, STHeiti, STKaiti, STSong (Firefox seems to have problems with the ST fonts). Under MacOS Classic, prefer Netscape to Internet Explorer.
